But fate is inexorable and the enemies Uhtred has made and the oaths he has sworn combine to distract him from his dream of recapturing Bebbanburg. New enemies enter into the fight for England’s kingdoms: the redoubtable Constantin of Scotland seizes an opportunity for conquest and leads his armies south. My Review:

Fate is a bitch. Every time Uthred comes close to reclaiming what is rightfully his, some stupid oath comes up that stops him from achieving his lifelong goal. 

This series is so great. As I have said before, the historical detailing is amazing and it is just like stepping back in time. I cannot get enough of Uthred and his story.
